Make sure when you are ready to switch your energy supplier

1. Uncover when your contract is due for renewal
In united kingdom most of the energy supply are in fixed contracts for their gas and/or electricity. That means you can only switch at the end of the contract period and you also need to give a notice by a certain gap before leaving the energy supplier.
It will always better to know Know details about your contract or deals specially about the due date for renewal which ensures you to put yourself in a position to shop around and switch if there are better deals elsewhere.

2. Give adequate notice to your existing supplier
Most energy suppliers have extends their contracts automatically at the end of a contract, if you have not given notice. You will automatically be switched over into a new contract, may be for one or two years in length depends on the energy suppliers. Finding out your contract renewal and the days of notice that you need to give. Don’t forget this notice day if you miss this deadline, you could be rolled over for another contract term.
Also ensure that you give notice in the correct way. Some suppliers will only accept written letters others will accept other method such as faxes or online application its totally depends on suppliers.
